About Joan
Joan (Joann) Ascheim, a longtime Concord resident, is enjoying retirement after a career dedicated to improving the lives of women and children. She raised her two daughters in Concord and has a deep connection to the community.
Joan trained as a nurse and pediatric nurse practitioner at Georgetown University and the University of Virginia, going on to work in diverse settings including children’s hospitals, the Indian Health Service, Migrant Head Start Centers, the New Hampshire Division of Public Health Services, the Connecticut Department of Public Health, and the New Hampshire Public Health Association. Joan is particularly proud of establishing the New Hampshire Home Visiting Program for mothers and infants. She has also served on numerous boards and committees and was recently a volunteer with Girls on the Run.
Joan has advocated for women and children throughout her career and is thrilled to contribute to the Project S.T.O.R.Y board. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors and is an avid hiker, cyclist, runner, and cross-country skier.
